Prior to joining TCV, Derek practiced law in both the private and public sectors. He served as an Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney in Franklin County, Virginia. He is a United States Marine Corps veteran that was trained in intelligence and served in Afghanistan. After the Marine Corps Derek served as a police officer in the Rocky Mount/Franklin County community for five years. Derek completed his undergraduate studies at Liberty University with a B.S. focusing on Criminal Justice and Computer Information Systems. He earned his Juris Doctor from Liberty University School of Law where he stood out for his involvement in the Student Bar Association. He is a member of the Virginia Bar Association and the Franklin County Bar Association.
